Why did you pursue the APTD ® ? I chose to pursue the APTD after my current employer and department extended this opportunity to senior corporate trainers as a way to further strengthen our knowledge and facilitation skills in support of a large and diverse organization.

How have you benefited from the credential—professionally and/or personally? Earning the APTD credential has helped me become a more effective facilitator by giving me a stronger understanding of how adults learn. It’s allowed me to better connect the material to real-world experiences, making sessions more engaging and easier for trainees to understand.

What advice would you share with others considering certification? I would encourage others considering certification to see the opportunity as a professional investment in their growth. The knowledge you gain can make a meaningful difference in how you connect with learners.

How did your employer support your pursuit of the credential? My employer supported my pursuit by adjusting my schedule to allow time for studying, which I truly appreciated and found incredibly helpful throughout the process.

How did you get into the talent development field? I work for a credit union, and after spending five years in our branch network, I was asked to join our corporate training team. And since I have a heart for people, what better way to give back than to educate and uplift new and existing employees.
