We surveyed the Workforce Development Community in early May, and received some interesting feedback on the community’s biggest 2013-2014 concerns, and the expected investments to help members address those concerns.

A quick wrap-up:

  • Corporate culture and teambuilding issues still rank behind leadership and communication concerns, proving that managers and trainers are still most concerned about how company executives are establishing and communicating their strategies across their organizations.

  • Employee engagement concerns ranked second across all concerns - frankly, this is a double-edged sword. On the positive, it shows that managers and trainers are buying into the understanding that there is a direct correlation between engagement and productivity, and that investing in this area is necessary for company success. On the negative, many organizations are still struggling to effectively move the needle – to find the right methods for their organizations that will have a real, profound impact. How do you choose the right strategy for your organization?

  • Other concerns that ranked highly were teambuilding issues, time management/project management issues, and change management concerns.

  • Over one-third of the responders expected to invest in training programs and related resources in 2013 in order to help address these concerns.

All in all, the survey helped direct us as to the content and services you need most. And it proved that while the industry continues to change and present dynamic challenges for us all, the basic tenets of good leadership and communication will always prove to be the most essential when trying to get the most out of your staff.
