Does technology aid or enhance employee learning or is it just a trendy way to deliver content? The answer varies widely across the field. Some feel that using technology is a training imperative; others maintain that it doesn’t always add value. A multinational corporation might use virtual classrooms for which learners create avatars and participate with peers across the globe. A small nonprofit might rely on vendor provided, standalone computer based training modules. Is one more impressive or appropriate than the other? The key is to differentiate between choosing technology because it enhances learning or meets a business need and simply showing off your cool capabilities.
