As more employees work from home, conversations about work-life balance—or a lack thereof—have become more prevalent. Yes, it’s important to set boundaries. Yes, it’s important to practice mindfulness. Yes, it’s important to take breaks and clear your head. But these practices will not move the needle unless you’re making yourself a priority. Our work-life balance often seems out of sync when we no longer enjoy the things we’re pursuing—when we’re not excited about our work. Make sure your schedule has plenty of time incorporated into it for “you” time—time spent working on your passions, your hobbies, your goals. You have to make sure “work” doesn’t become your identity. When you’re good at what you do, it’s easy to let that be who you are. Consider what outside of work brings you fulfillment and prioritize those things. We all get more done when we’re approaching work from a place of feeling complete and whole.
