use companies look at training in terms of return-on-investment, online training has increased in popularity, in part because it can reach many people and cover broad geographical locations in a small amount of time. When working with online training, however, measuring ROI through increasing profit-margin is not the only relevant metric. Soft metrics, such as increased employee productivity, improved morale, and an enhanced brand identity, can be just as important as hard measurables. One way to increase an employee’s attitude toward training, and subsequently increase soft ROI measurements, is to decrease the transactional distance involved in today’s learning.
