Cybersecurity training is vital to organizational success, but very few companies get it right. With an estimated $10 billion spent over the next decade on keeping employees up to date on the latest digital threats, organizations must ensure the time and resources spent on this training don’t go to waste. Here are a few pitfalls and mistakes to avoid. First, understand there are no silver bullet solutions to cybersecurity training. There are no check-the-box training methodologies that achieve the outcomes you’re looking for. In a similar vein, there are no one-size-fits-all approaches, either. Training needs to be individualized and optimized for specific roles at specific organizations. You need to ensure that training is engaging and delivered on an on-demand basis and that it’s accessible on multiple platforms. Finally, training shouldn’t be viewed as a one-and-done exercise. Successful cybersecurity training is ongoing and evolves along with new technologies and new security threats. Keep it simple, keep it engaging, and keep it meaningful to succeed.
