The mainstream hiring process is unfriendly toward neurodivergent individuals, particularly those who have autism . The fact that special opportunities such as veterans’ programs, affirmative action plans, and neurodiversity hiring programs even exist is an example of current hiring practices. If hiring practices were unbiased and based upon competencies, the most skilled person would always get the job; however, this is not the case. To reach neurodivergent individuals, it is necessary to make changes in hiring processes that reach this population. In doing so, organizations can make their recruiting and selection processes friendlier for everyone.
