As the pandemic draws to a close, business leaders and employees are beginning to question what the future of work will look like. Most experts agree that remote work, in some form or fashion, is here to stay and that most workplaces will take on a hybrid model, with employees spending some of their time in the office and some of their time working remotely. How this will play out differs from organization to organization, and it’s up to leadership to define parameters to ensure expectations are clear. To start this process, it’s best to start asking questions. What a hybrid work model will accomplish should be the first inquiry tackled, followed by how employees will provide guidance on the ultimate structure of their workweeks. How will this new structure be phased in, and how will the shift be supported by leadership and management are also important questions to answer. Additionally, it’s important to consider how the process will be evaluated and where course corrections can be made if adjustments are required. We’re entering a new world, so it’s important that we go forward with intention, flexibility, and optimism.
