How to Re-Engage When You're Checked Out at Work

Published Mon Apr 10 2023

If you’re unhappy at work, you’re far from alone. Burnout is at endemic levels, and resignation rates are through the roof. If you’ve checked out, it’s understandable. But consider checking back in on your terms. To do this, refocus on your reputation. Ask yourself what you want to be known for and the steps to get there. Some of these goals might require honing skills you already have or acquiring new ones. Use this pursuit to reinvest in the position you have and consider how your experiences could be leveraged into achieving your reputational goals. In this approach, be intentional and incremental. You will not achieve your goals overnight, so come up with a reasonable pathway. This will impact your approach to your day-to-day work responsibilities and help you look for ways to make a difference in your professional life.
