Many employees will say they want professional development, but when it comes time to participate in training, they're too busy. Attendance and completion rates will suffer, and employees will feel like their needs aren't being met. To maximize attendance and engagement, there are some steps you can take. First, seek buy-in from managers. Meet with managers to understand how training can better support their teams. When managers are on board, employees will follow. Customize training at the team level. By building training around a team, every learner will understand connections between the lessons and their performance. Make sure training is timely and accessible in a variety of ways. Finally, design credentials for fully completed programs and follow up with learners to understand how to improve next time.
