The swift transition to remote work has left many companies scrambling to adapt. HR departments had to quickly rethink staffing needs; executives had to rethink how their corporate missions would evolve. Nowhere, though, has this transition hit harder than IT departments. With no time to prepare, many employees set about their virtual workday from private networks and personal devices, exposing their companies to cybersecurity risks. According to a new study released by ManageEngine, 81 percent of those in the IT industry believe that remote working has increased their security challenge, and 91 percent have had to dramatically alter their data protection strategies. “The results should serve as a wake-up call for organizations to proactively ramp up their security measures through employee training and reinforcing their identity and access management, SIEM, and unified endpoint management practices,” said Ajay Kumar, chief evangelist at ManageEngine.
