To say the pandemic was disruptive would be a tremendous understatement. For the past year and a half, workers have toiled under uncertain circumstances, but more importantly, they’ve taken the time to reflect on what they want from their careers. According to Gallup data, employee well-being is one of the top concerns for all workers regardless of generation, and that among millennials and GenZ employees, it ranks number 1. Employees are demanding that their bosses are committed to supporting them personally and professionally, and one of the driving factors in this stress reduction. Worldwide, the daily stress of employees grew by 43 percent in 2020, Gallup data reveals, and that rate was even more extreme in North America. Stress climbed by 57 percent during that year among US and Canadian workers.
