The battle for talent is fierce. Companies are trying to attract and retain top performers, and individuals are trying to stand out from the pack. If you’re looking for new employment, start by rethinking your resume. Make sure it’s scannable and tailored to the job opening you’re applying for. Use your resume and cover letter to express a clear interest in the company. “While recruiters are reaching out to passive candidates … once they’re engaged, there’ll certainly be an expectation they’ll demonstrate an interest in coming to work for the company,” said Pete Lamson, CEO of Employ. Part of that interest needs to be directed towards compensation. Discuss pay-in as part of the introductory call, and make sure your request is in line with industry rates.
