I’ve often been torn between whether we need a new evaluation model that addresses the weaknesses we see in our most popular models or whether we need to be more deliberate in selecting the evaluation model that best meets the needs of the evaluation itself. Like many of you, I use the Kirkpatrick model, and for the most part, it works. But I’ve also started to explore Brinkerhoff’s Success Case Method (SCM), and that seems to work, too. So, which one should I be using? Well, depending on my evaluation goals, it could be both.
