When it comes to organizational success, employee engagement is critical. And as the pandemic drags on, it’s important that managers take engagement seriously. It’s not a feel-good concept or an item to check off your to-do list. Engaged employees are successful employees and far more productive than their counterparts who are looking for the exits. To move the needle on engagement scores, though, a personalized approach is needed. Taking the time to understand workers’ aspirations, expectations, and priorities, managers can better align their employees’ skill sets to the company’s overall mission. It’s also important to be aware that employee engagement is a two-way street. By having them become involved in the engagement journey, you can expect better results. The manager and the employee must work together in this endeavor and have honest and open conversations about expectations and levels of fulfillment.
