When my dog had a serious health problem, I went from service provider to customer—a role change that made me consider what's important when recommending solutions.

Once again my furry friends have taught me some lessons that I can apply to training and performance improvement. Over the past few months my dog, Virgie, had a serious health problem that took me from service provider to customer. Throughout the entire process, Virgie’s healthcare providers repeatedly told me, “Take this. It will make her better.” However well-intentioned, the vets did not cure her. They gave her a whole lot of medication yet she didn’t get better.
