The impacts of the Great Resignation will not be evenly distributed. According to a new survey from TalentLMS, tech might be the hardest sector hit with some 78 percent of 1,200-US tech/IT/software professionals saying they are considering leaving their current roles for better opportunities. The survey revealed the reasons for this dissatisfaction were myriad, but there were several familiar culprits on the list, including lack of flexibility, limited opportunities, lack of recognition, and burnout. The survey also revealed a deep desire in the tech industry for skills development. A little more than 90 percent of respondents stated they wanted more training opportunities from their employers. “The realization that remote working is a viable alternative for tech/IT employees has created many employment options that are no longer geographically constrained,” said Periklis Venakis, CTO of Epignosis, who sees the Great Resignation as a direct result of the pandemic. “With the need for highly-skilled IT professionals at an all-time high, the survey from Epignosis and Workable shows that tech workers are increasingly viewing learning and upskilling as a top career priority.”
