Published Mon Apr 11 2022
We’re in the middle of one of the biggest transitions in employment history. The shift to remote and hybrid working environments has been massive, and the Great Resignation has put the power in the hands of employees. Businesses interested in increasing retention are becoming more flexible and looking for ways to convince their talent to stay. Stress and the resultant burnout factor into this equation. Most leaders understand burnout that comes from unmanageable workloads. While workload is part of it, a new report from Coveo has revealed an unlikely source of burnout: information overload. According to the study, the average employee spends 3.6 hours of their day searching for relevant information. Hours are even higher for tech workers. IT professionals spend more than half their day looking for needed information. This frustration can lead to stress, which has employees feeling burned out. More than 31 percent of those surveyed said they feel increased levels of stress while searching for information, and 16 percent said they have wanted to leave their positions due to this issue.
