The great resignation is upon us, and smart business leaders are doing everything they can to stem the ever-growing waves of employee departures. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly 11.5 million people quit their job from April to June 2021. This figure is sobering. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that your teams will be unaffected. It’s important to know the warning signs of turnover and address them before an employee heads for the exit. The first warning sign is obvious—disengagement. If an employee seems detached from their work, it may be a sign that they are about to quit. The same goes for noticeable decreases in productivity and fewer contributions to team discussions. Burnout and boredom are also indicators that an employee may be ready to resign and that intervention will be required to keep them from doing so.
