Happy employees are productive employees. And this isn’t just a wishful notion—the numbers back it up. Oxford University found happy employees to be 13 percent more productive, and they also identified ways to increase happiness. First, promote a healthy work-life balance. Encouraging a healthy work-life balance can enhance employees’ overall well-being and, in turn, increase their focus and productivity. Flexible working arrangements are highly valued by more than 80 percent of employees, and options like hybrid schedules or unlimited paid time off can be considered. Second, invest in employee development. Employee development, which combines training and relationship building, helps employees advance in their careers and drives creativity and innovation. Creating mentorship opportunities within the company or sending employees to conferences can be effective ways to invest in development. Always ask for employee feedback and open paths of communication. Routinely seeking employee feedback is crucial for creating a healthy work environment. Employers should encourage open and honest feedback, ask future-focused questions, and follow up with specific inquiries to demonstrate active listening. By implementing these strategies, organizations can enhance employee morale, productivity, and engagement, ultimately contributing to their success and competitiveness in the market.
