The COVID-19 pandemic slowed the globalization of organizations and the political trends toward nationalism. Based on the number of new requests I’ve received for cultural agility training, it appears that companies are beginning to prepare their employees for international endeavors. In the past, global mindset and cultural competence training didn’t exist, this can be attributed to companies looking to manufacture, produce, and market both goods and services domestically to avoid pandemic complications. In addition, COVID-19 has cocooned employees at home, working virtually. The pendulum appears to be moving slowly but steadily in the opposite direction, and the companies that best prepare their employees for global opportunities will be at a distinct competitive advantage.
