In a memorandum to Chief Human Capital Officers, OPM Acting Director Elaine Kaplan stated, “ASTD’s Government Workforce: Learning Innovations conference qualifies as training in compliance with 5 U.S.C., chapter 41. The training, open to all Federal employees, will feature training and workshops in areas such as getting the best value for your training dollars and creating a leadership pipeline.”

This is the first year that the conference has received training approval from OPM. “We are extremely pleased that the content offerings in the Government Workforce: Learning Innovations conference comply with training requirements for Federal employees,” says Carrie Blustin, the manager of ASTD’s Government Community of Practice and publisher of The Public Manager. “Building a stronger government through innovation in learning is the focus of the conference and we will feature speakers from a broad cross-section of government agencies,” she adds.
