Artificial intelligence is changing the way people see and interact with the world. Follow these guidelines to help inform your approach as you integrate generative AI into your team's work.
1. Create an understanding of AI's value.
Start by having open and honest conversations with your team about using AI—both its capabilities and its consequences. Evaluate your team's needs, skills, and current and potential AI capabilities.
2. Emphasize the human element.
Retain human input and oversight by asking people involved in final decision making to consider ethical and emotional factors.
3. Understand the rules of the AI road.
Recognize how an AI tool's algorithms may have implicit bias; look for ways to counter it. For
instance, the algorithms that companies use in hiring and talent development can be biased or reflect harmful inequities.
4. Be directly involved in developing AI rules.
Create an AI policy to help establish a company culture of trust, inclusivity, and common ground. The culture should encourage your team to challenge AI tools in the spirit of continuous improvement.
