In a time when unemployment is at a peak, employers are more selective in recruiting for key positions. So candidates—especially those just beginning their careers—need to be more competitive. ASTD wants to provide a community and resources to support students and other professionals embarking on a career in human resource development. ASTD met with professors and deans from accredited colleges and universities throughout Washington D.C. metro area. Professors suggested that the greatest perceived need of students was finding a job to match their skills and interests.
