Every day, healthcare workers across the world face crisis from human-instigated tragedies such as an active shooter or terrorist attack to natural events such as hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. Some of these events occur at or directly affect the healthcare facility, while others will take place off-site but require a response from the facility and, at times, even a coordinated response from several facilities in the instance of handling incoming mass casualties. Therefore, institutions must be ready for events ranging from a single violent patient or worker to a mass casualty radiological attack.
