"I am looking for research on how much time a leader should devote to learning or development per month outside of formal training courses. I'm thinking one to two hours."

"We started four-hour elective learning for all employees. We allow it to be anything: webinar, podcast, courses on our LMS, soft skills, etc. We are trying to create a learning culture. I think four hours can also apply to leaders."

"One to two hours a month often gets swallowed by immediate fires, making it hard to shift a habit. While four to eight hours feels like a bigger ask, it's more realistic when you factor in the 20 of the 70-20-10 model, like peer coaching and strategic reflection. If we aren't protecting at least 5 percent of leaders' monthly capacity for learning, we're essentially asking them to lead through change without the right tools."
