This article describes how to disagree successfully with the boss or a senior executive, and make the interaction a learning experience. One should begin by committing oneself to meet the challenge objectively, without defensiveness or anger. One should begin the meeting by giving the boss the floor. He may want to discuss another aspect of the issue or talk about something else. One should listen to the boss patiently. One should offer suggestions rather than conclusions, the latter might make one sound pompous.
