Wed Dec 01 2004
The article presents some suggestions on how a leader can improve his writing skills. Good writing skills, though not generally recognized as a leadership tool, can prove crucial to communicate one's thoughts in writing and speaking. Leaders often make the critical writing mistakes of giving unclear action requests, covering too many topics in an email, writing when communication should occur face-to-face and using the wrong tone. Skills that can be helpful to demonstrate leadership skills are getting results by driving action, communicating ideas strategically to support company vision and goals, creating a positive and motivating work environment and coaching others effectively and constructively.
