The article presents information on a few suggestions as to how employees can fulfil their job responsibilities before going off for vacation. Sixty percent of respondents to a survey by office supply company Quil said they have cancelled, postponed, or shortened a vacation due to their workload. Forty percent have taken work along with them on vacation. Londa Della, Quill office protocol advisor, says that one should make vacation plans far enough in advance that they can manage deadlines and brief someone to cover crucial tasks while they are away. They could use the auto-reply feature in their email program and update their outgoing phone message to let people know when they will be away and who to contact in their place.
