The article discusses the implications of an improved learning spaces in a work environment at Steelcase Inc. in the U.S. Steelcase, the company that built its reputation as a leading office furniture manufacturer, has put many years and significant resources into researching how space is used. Researchers used ethnographic and observational methods known as user-centered design in studying groups of people as they solve problems, share ideas and engage in work activities. An effective learning environment does not require expensive renovation. Ingenuity and thoughtful design can help organizations leverage their formal and informal space to make a difference.
