The article outlines the five myths about job sharing. Job sharing is the most effective and underused flexibility option to retain workers, particularly women who are opting out of the workforce to raise families. However, there are false impressions concerning job sharing wherein the author identifies and dispels such myths. These would include the thought that job sharing is expensive and would force employers to pay benefits twice. However, few executive mothers need it. There is also the notation that it is difficult to manage two workers but by seeking candidates who are closely matched companies can create powerful work teams. Some companies worry that accommodating one employee will lead to other requests. However, job sharing is one flexibility program.
