The University of Central Florida has launched the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, a campus-wide initiative that aims to sharpen its leadership in both foundational and applied AI. The institute draws together more than two dozen faculty from the colleges of business, engineering and computer science, medicine, and sciences to work in areas such as computer vision, robotics, machine learning, healthcare, finance, and mathematics.

In addition, the institute integrates AI training across all disciplines, so students in nontechnical fields also gain AI literacy, while technical students get applied, real-world exposure. Finally, the institute stresses responsible, safe, and governance-aware AI, anticipating ethical, privacy, and safety dimensions rather than treating them as afterthoughts.
