The article reports on the proposed bills that call for continue funding of federal training programs in the U.S. The proposals provide $3,000 yearly funds to workers to spend on training services directly towards the Career Advancement Accounts as well as consolidation of job training programs administered under the Workforce Investment Act. The administration would support regional high-growth industry training and calls for $150 million grants to community and technical colleges. Some of these proposals the Technology Retraining and Investment Now Act for the 21st Century by Representative Jerry Walker and Lifelong Learning Accounts Act of 2007 by Senator Maria Cantwell.
