In response to a variety of factors—not the least of which is healthcare reform—the healthcare industry is rapidly consolidating and integrating. As individual silos (for example, medical practices and hospital departments) come together in the pursuit of common objectives, including clinical integration, the need for leadership from physicians has become imperative.
