Months of preliminary research, personal interviews with training director as-sociates, and members of the research division of the Cleveland Chamber of Com-merce, convinced the writer that now was the time to prepare a survey 011 the rela-tively new position in the business world—the Training Director. Employers stated that they were hesitant to hire a training director who was not referred to them by a 1 raining Directors Association or someone equally qualified to judge the applicant's qualifications.
