The article reports on the increase of workers engaged in telecommuting and telework in the U.S. It is believed that the increase was driven by proliferation of high speed, broadband and wireless access and willingness of employers to embrace flexibility and work-life balance issues. It is expected that the 100 million workers would telework in 2010 due to the increase companies that realized the cost benefits and view it to attract employee retention. A survey reveals that space utilization, improvement efficiency and cost reduction are the top three objectives of companies in allowing such work.
