The modern talent development professional must be multidimensional, multi-talented, future focused, and highly strategic. Historically, our profession's work has looked something like this: Training managers consulted with business units to pick topics; instructional designers created the material; facilitators delivered the training; and the administrators managed the learning management system and kept track of training records. Everyone had a role, and those roles were primarily about products, services, and sales training. Soft skills training and leadership development were considered nice to have but not essential.
