Most people struggle to successfully balance their work and personal lives. Often they end up forfeiting some part of each, leaving friends and family upset or supervisors and co-workers disappointed.

For people with disabilities and their caretakers, this struggle can be amplified. To encourage work-life balance for this unique population, the Office of Disability Employment Policy and the U.S. Department of Labor's Women's Bureau partnered to create the Workplace Flexibility Toolkit.

This tool kit offers more than 170 different tools ranging from fact sheets and case studies to relevant links and slideshows. Each feature aims to make the workplace "mutually beneficial to both the employer and employee, resulting in superior outcomes."

One of the more interesting characteristics of this tool kit is that it is searchable, providing visitors the ability to access specific information quickly and accurately. The data are categorized by audience, type of workplace flexibility, and frequently asked questions. This product offers an assortment of customized methods to improve workplace flexibility in a way that works best for each user.

Although the Workplace Flexibility Toolkit was designed for workers with disabilities, it is helpful for anyone who seeks to achieve her potential in a more flexible work environment. Whether you are a manager, policymaker, or employee, this tool kit will allow you to re-imagine your workplace. Learn more online at www.dol.gov/odep/workplaceflexibility/index.htm.
