Everyone has a part to play in supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion within an organization. As employees, we contribute to cultures of acceptance and openness. As L&D professionals, we support broad initiatives by creating, selecting, and tracking training on DEI-related topics. Yet we exert an even greater amount of influence on an organization's DEI efforts in the everyday choices we make on topics seemingly unrelated to DEI through our work as facilitators and instructional designers. That's a fact I did not fully appreciate early in my career.
