At the end of each presidential term, the citizens of the United States experience something we often take for granted: the peaceful transfer of power. Even in the hotly contested presidential election of 2000, where the final outcome of the election was not finalized until more than a month after Election Day, citizens waited patiently as the term "chad" was introduced into popular lexicon. Eventually, though, the transfer of power was again executed peacefully.
