WOMEN TAKING ADVANTAGE OF Flex Benefits
Published Thu Mar 01 2007
The article presents a survey, which was conducted by the Simmons School of Management and Hewlett-Packard Co., that contradicts with a previous study determining that women are leaving the workforce in droves. The purpose of the survey was to determine the reason why women intend to leave the workforce, why they make their career decisions, and how they manage work-life balance. The women reported that they were negotiating for flexible work arrangements, such as telecommuting, flexible hours, and limitations on traveling or evening work, while only 18% voluntarily stopped working. It is inferred that due to workforce shortage, flexible work arrangements are considered as the main strategy to lure and retain essential talent.
