A benefit or B corporation is a for-profit organization that solves environmental or social problems. It's a legal designation that is now available across the United States. The purpose of a B corp is different from that of a traditional corporation; it must deliver social or environmental good, as determined by stakeholders. This new type of corporate entity can legally justify a bottom line in terms of public benefit delivered, not just shareholder return.
