The average person will spend about 90,000 hours at work, according to research by Gettysburg College. It's a staggering number to see in black and white, but it doesn't mean that work time must be miserable. If positivity at work is a struggle for you, the WorkLife With Adam Grant podcast is worth a listen.
The TED original podcast, which debuted in 2018, gives voice to professionals around the world figuring out how to make "work not suck."
Grant is an organizational psychologist, a New York Times bestselling author, and a professor of management and psychology at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Grant has spoken to an eclectic range of guests for WorkLife, including Olympic athletes who cheer for their competitors and a restaurant server who became a CEO. The podcast also covers obstacles that many people face at work, including loneliness, procrastination, and burnout.
Recent episodes include "NBA Hall of Famer Joe Dumars on Managing Eclectic Personalities," "Cultivating Good Power With Longtime IBM CEO Ginni Rometty," and "Steve Martin on Finding Your Authentic Voice."
