Products equipped with 802.11g Wi-Fi capability have been on markets for some time now as of September 1, 2003. But it wasn't until June 2003 that the new standard finally gained approval from Standards Board Review Committee of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. An approval from IEEE is huge step for 802.11g that could usher in a high-speed wireless networking standard. Where the 11g standard differs from more common 11b standard is speed. 802.11 g is fast offering connection speeds of up to 54Mbps.
