This DEI Real Talk recording took a deeper dive into best practices for hosting accessible and inclusive chapter events. The focus was on how chapters could ensure their events were accessible to all participants, regardless of physical or cognitive ability. Accessibility standards, such as closed captioning, were modeled throughout the session, demonstrating how easily these tools could be incorporated into chapter events. These practices aligned with the updated ATD National guidelines for accessibility and accommodations, helping chapters provide an inclusive experience for every participant. Attendees gained insights from three chapter leaders who are certified accessibility professionals. They shared practical tips, real-world examples, and proven strategies for creating accessible events. The session included time for Q&A, allowing participants to ask questions and discuss specific topics of interest. The goals of the session were to: Demonstrate an accessible virtual meeting format that chapter leaders could replicate Provide knowledge about tools and resources that could enhance event accessibility Help participants identify actions they could implement to improve accessibility at their next event.
