Adam Neufeld, the deputy administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), joined ATD at the Government Workforce 2016 event to anchor the conference with a closing keynote address on the challenges and opportunities faced by today’s government managers and employees. Deputy Administrator Nuefeld stepped into his role to lead the GSA during a time of increased focus on agency efforts to improve government management. A veteran of the GSA, Nuefeld first joined the agency as its chief of staff in 2013. In that position he was influential in charting the agency’s course forward, playing a vital role in its consolidation efforts as well as helping other agencies transform their space into more efficient, mobile, open offices. He has also been at the forefront of the GSA’s efforts to bring innovative new approaches to the federal government through the Presidential Innovation Fellows and 18F. He spoke to ATD’s Government Workforce conference attendees about the GSA’s current role in managing the first formalized presidential transition mandated by Congress and his agency’s efforts to bring innovative new approaches to the federal government.
