How can an organization build resilience during and beyond the current challenging times? What can an organization be doing now to plan for business and learning continuity? And how can the talent development function reignite employee morale and engagement?

These are among the questions that will be discussed during separate, live Q&A sessions throughout the Association for Talent Development’s Virtual Conference. The sessions will explore those questions and much more from the point of view of practitioners based in regions around the world: the Middle East, Latin America and the Americas, Europe, and Asia. A fifth panel will feature speakers from all the major regions. During the sessions, speakers will provide their experiences in these troubling and challenging times; at the end of each session, 10–15 minutes will be allotted for conference attendees’ questions.

Global Perspectives is one of the 11 tracks featured during the conference. The track’s sessions highlight trends and topics influencing a community of professionals from all over the world, with a focus on developing global talent, sharing regional best practices, and conducting global benchmarking. Each of the five live sessions will focus on a subcategory within the Global Perspectives track.

For example, the Insights From Latin America panel session—“Business and Learning Continuity: Maintaining High Levels of Productivity During Unpredictable Times”—focuses on performance improvement. The Insights From Europe sessions—“The Rise of Digital and Online Learning: How COVID-19 Is Accelerating the Future of Learning”—takes a dive into virtual teams.

The overarching Global Insights panel session—“Learning Lessons From Across the Globe: Business Continuity in Time of Disruption”—will discuss global workforce development. Hoda Nagah, Global events manager for ATD, explained that these four regional and one global panel discussions “will address the reshaping of workforce learning. The five live sessions will tackle the most pressing challenges the global L&TD community is facing, from maintaining productivity and performance and leading in a virtual workplace to becoming more digitally literate—all these are pillars of the new ATD Talent Development Capability Model and compliment the overarching event theme.“

In addition to the opportunity to engage with and learn more about participants in your region (or others), the Virtual Conference will feature chat rooms available 24 hours a day throughout the conference. Attendees are encouraged to log in at their convenience, introduce themselves, pose questions, share their learnings, network, and join happy hours and other fun group activities.

Several sessions, including the keynote addresses, will be subtitled in simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Interpreted sessions were selected based on feedback from ATD international groups. ATD expects attendees from more than 65 countries at the Virtual Conference.
