Sponsored by Upside Learning, ASTD and i4cp's Mobile Learning: Delivering Learning in a Connected World looks at the current landscape of mobile learning in a world in which the ubiquity of mobile devices seems to have created a perfect environment for delivering learning solutions to our workforce, where or when they need it. Mobile technology is changing the world and our experience of it. From an organizational perspective, mobile learning allows for a spectrum of possibilities that were not present before, and they continue to evolve before us. Overall, the findings of this Study indicate that companies with learning functions that help meet both learning and business goals tend to be higher market performers.

The foundation of this study is an analysis of responses to a survey of 567 business and learning professionals, 154 of which reported that their organizations are currently using mobile learning in their organizations. Finding include: 1. Mobile learning enhances the learning function through performance support. 2. Chief barriers to adopting mobile learning include budget, integration with legacy learning systems and security.  3. Less than 10 percent of respondents who deliver mobile learning have formal metrics in place to evaluate effectiveness. 4. Over half of respondents believe mobile technologies will improve learning in their organization in the next three years. Organizations are still on the cusp of integrating emerging technologies into learning strategies. To be successful, they will need to overcome technology hurdles to meet learning and development.
