When looking for leadership potential, seek out those who personally reflect the company's ethos and priorities.

2. Examine communication abilities.

Observe how individuals communicate with co-workers both in person and remotely. Is there one go-to person? That may naturally point to a leader.

3. See who rises to the challenge.

To find future leaders who will embrace new challenges, rotate jobs and roles. Potential leaders will tackle the opportunity head-on and take calculated risks.

4. Identify lifelong learners.

It is imperative to have leaders who can adapt to new technology quickly.

5. Offer advanced projects.

Give future leaders opportunities to work on special projects, interdepartmental initiatives, and presentations to gain experience.

6. Keep providing feedback.
