Last November, National Tsing Hua University and global artificial intelligence technology leader NVIDIA established the NTHU/NVIDIA Innovation Center to advance the Taiwanese university's AI education and research as well as to develop talent for success in academia, industry, and government.
As a function of the partnership, NTHU has signed a contract with Kaohsiung Medical University to build a hospital in the Taoyuan Aerotropolis (expected to open in 2028).
The partnership, which hopes to spark advances in precision medicine, has four core areas: developing advanced AI technology; exploring cutting-edge AI applications; cultivating and certifying young talent; and promoting startup development. When announcing the initiative, NTHU noted that it is the first university in Taiwan to give professors and students clear guidelines on applying AI in the classroom.
Students can engage in talent development opportunities via the Deep Learning Institute Ambassador Program, which advances students' practical skills and AI innovative thinking. As part of the partnership, NVIDIA has agreed to support NTHU students' startup companies by offering technical support through NVIDIA software.
